WGHC hosted its 33rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday 09th September 2023.
To allow the AGM to legally proceed, 10% of the WGHC membership are required to attend. Unbelievably and setting a record in the history of WGHC, a staggering 23% of our membership attended. This is an incredible achievement and almost unheard of within the sector. A huge ‘thank you’ to those members who attended and for those who made use of their proxy rights in their absence of attendance.
We want to make the 34th AGM next year an even attended and interesting event for our members. We are delighted to announce that WGHC now has 12 fully elected committee members:
- Colin Fraser – Chairperson (first elected as a Governing Body Member 2020; elected Treasurer 2021, elected Chair 2022)
- Wendy Riordan – Vice Chair (elected as a Governing Body Member 2021; elected Vice Chair 2022)
- Jim Hemphill – Vice Chair (elected as a Governing Body Member 2021; elected Vice Chair 2023)
- Amanda Aitchison – (first elected as a Governing Body Member 2020)
- Liz Robertson – (first elected as a Governing Body Member 2016)
- George Thomson – (first elected as a Governing Body Member 1991)
- Morag Orr – (elected as a Governing Body Member 2022)
- Lynn Jameson – (elected as a Governing Body Member 2023)
- Cameron Durance – (elected as a Governing Body Member 2023)
- Alan Lamont – (elected as a Governing Body Member 2023)
- Elizabeth Stewart – (elected as a Governing Body Member 2023)
- Mary Fergus – (elected as a Governing Body Member 2023)
The principal decision making body of WGHC is the Committee of Management. There is a wide range of ages, knowledge and experience among our committee members. Length of service ranges all the way from a 2 years to 30 years. We believe this breadth of experience is a great advantage to our committee. The Committee is legally responsible for ensuring that the Co-operative has in place a system of controls with regard to the reliability of financial information, the maintenance of proper accounting records and the safeguarding of assets.
